About the collection

The problem-based learning and agropreneurship in Africa collection reviews and analyzes problem-based learning and its relation to agricultural entrepreneurship in an African context and a viewpoint relevant to academic personnel. The collection gives practical insight into how to implement problem-based learning in African higher education institutes and how to overcome potential challenges arising along the way. The utilization of student-centered teaching and problem-based learning approaches will improve the quality of teaching and learning and subsequently contribute to the development of future professionals able to get employed or be employers themselves and solve societal and environmental challenges.

The collection articles are produced as part of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) Training Programme organized by the AgriSCALE project and the authors comprise academic staff from seven African universities.

The editors of the collection are the AgriSCALE project coordinator and the leader of the HAMK Africa Team Eija Laitinen, the research assistant Satu Määttänen from the HAMK Bio research unit and the senior lecturer Ulla-Maija Knuutti from the Sustainable Development Degree program at HAMK.
